Default Fuel Gauge Question

I know there are tons of threads on this topic, and I've watched Willcox's incredibly informative video. I'm pretty sure I have another burned resistor on my '77. Same issue that I had previously, the gauge wont go above 1/4 tank even with a full tank. I just replaced the resistor about 2 weeks ago, as well as the PCB since it had a ground issue. My question is... what could be causing the resistors to go? Also, is it possible I put the resistor on backwards? I dont think so, but want to eliminate that as an option.

So you purchased the resistor based upon the color of the original?
Resistors are not directional unlike diodes, transistors, etc.
You followed the test procedure for checking the sending unit in the tank?

Melwiff put great link below. You should check all your wiring and readings before putting fuse in. If you have burnt resistor it must gotten hot to open. Check all your wiring then go thru guide. Especially check you have the ground, 12 volt and ohm wire in correct position

Thanks for the advice. I did not check the sending unit, but I checked everything else from the fuse box to the PCB. I tested the PCB once I installed it, according to the Willcox video. I saw the Willcox tutorial that showed each of the different issues that the fuel gauge will display, which is how I arrived at the blown resistor. I suppose I'll check the sending unit before replacing the fuse again.

A failed resistor would be an open, blown fuse means you have a short
