Has anyone bought the Wheel Vintiques 16" rally wheel replicas? You buy their trim rings and use your center caps? Where did you get them? What size tires work best? I have 3.70 gears on my car - need a new speedo gear?
I don't have those wheels, but as far as tire sizes, 255/50r16's will fit in back with maybe just tying up the parking brake cable to the control arm. The fronts may or may not clear this size, my 245's rub a hair on the front, I see the mark but I never feel it do it, rubs on a rivet on the left side but nothing on the right so not a big deal. If you have 255's on the front of yours now I don't see why they would rub with the same width on a 16" rim. I typed this before reading your entire sig and I see you do have a rubbing problem, so you may want to go with 245's in the front, they will however be about a 1/2" shorter then your rear tires, but I can't tell much more of a gap difference between the front and rear on my car, looks about the same.
I'm running those wheels, instead of using their trim rings I opted for the chrome outer and bare center because the rings for the 16's are so small and I wanted a stock appearance. Painted the centers silver and they look stock. I am running 255/50/ZR16 Firestones and have no rubbing issues either front or rear on my '69. Quality of the rims is great, it only takes a very small weight to balance them I have been very happy with them. and the stock center caps fit fine. I bought them at at Speed Merchant, but anyplace that has the catalog can get them.
