About to pull the trigger on ordering a carpet kit for my 69 coupe.
I found the ACC carpet kit at Rock Auto 80/20 loop with mass backing for $329. It includes padding which I assume is a jute backing.
Al Knoch kit is the same price at $330 including jute padding which is sold separately. No mass backing.
which kit do you recommend. I am prepping the floor with heat and sound deadening layer prior to installation. I have read the mass backing makes for a better fit as it is molded to the shape of the interior. It also provides an additional layer of heat and sound deadening.
What is your recommendation?

I have used both companies. They are both good and I never had a issue with either one. I bought my ACC carpet from Rock Auto as it was cheapest price.
I bought my Al Knoch Carpet from them at Bloomington Gold for I think $240 a few years ago. If I had to pick one it would be AL but you can’t go wrong with either one.

to me the biggest difference is the mass backing is included in the ACC kit. Any thoughts on that?
I’ll be in the market for new carpet soon enough. I guess if the carpet quality and fit is the same I would probably get the one with mass backing since that would make things quieter.
currently my old carpet has jute backing plus reflectix insulation and sound deadening material under it and is a tight fit, but it does fit. Not sure how the tight the fit would be with new, uncompressed jute and carpet though.
ACC makes several trim levels of carpet. I'm not sure that what you get from RockAuto is the same as what you get from, say, Willcox. I've ordered two sets of ACC from Willcox, and it's fine. RockAuto may be the same, or not, I dunno. You can order the really premium stuff from ACC directly.
I've recently purchased both, the ACC I bought from Willcox is nicer, it fits better, and has edge trim on the back of the floorboard carpet that looks more finished.
I just did this in a 63. I prefer Al Knock because I have meet him he used my 96 seats to make his reproductions. However due to the covid 19 there supplier was shut down and ACC was not.
