Default 78' Leaf Spring Install

Hello all, just installed a new leaf spring on my vette....very hard to do by myself, bit I did it. I am getting mixed answers on whether I need to take both ends metal clamps off....the part place said, take them off, a decent chevy mechanic I know, said no, leave them in...thoughts?

Nope,,,, This has been answered before. It isn't a matter of preference. They are supposed to be there.

GM left them off on the C3's so that the spring would not creak/groan as the leaves would slide over each other under movement when the clip is retained. But, as described in the Eaton response, it is the owner's choice whether to keep them or not, AFTER the spring has been installed.
