Battery trouble
I just got a 1968 BB 4spd Convertable. Nice car but the battery ran down. It's a new battery and the altenator looks new as well. I checked the fan belt and that seems okay. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it?

Could be bad cables or loose or coroded connections. Very common problem. do you have a "Battery Warehouse" store near you? If so and you can get it running and up there, they can test your battery and charging system for free.

When I got my car last year I had the same problem...the (no-name)battery was only 3 months old and left me stranded when the car wouldn't start.
Went to Sears and got a new Die-Hard.....one year later not one problem,even with the car sitting for a week at a time between starts.

:seeya Welcome to the forum. If you don't know, you can search the archives using the search commandunder forums at the left side. Do one on battery or battery drain and you will see several that have discussed how to find a drain, if it gets down to it. New looking Alts can be bad, so have a shop test it if you can.

Hopefully, just a bad battery but could very well be a drain. Check with a test light between the battery and negative cable. A good investment to avoid electrical fire and to negate any drain (at least as a temporary fix) is to get a battery quick disconnect. They are readily available. Best $15 you can spend on the car. Also very useful when working on the car and you need to shut off the electric, which for me, is always. Welcome to the forum. You can cruise all year round in Carpenteria! :cheers:
