I've got a 1969 Corvette convertible which had the factory alarm option. I've got a switch in the rear and a switch in the driver's gill area. From research the switch in the rear is right. Later years had the driver fender switch. The car came with keys that work the rear switch. The alarm currently doesn't work. The fender switch doesn't except any key I have. Rear key, ignition, or door. The fender switch is very hard to get to for me to tracy the wires. Any ideas? Rear
I also have a 69 since 73. The rear switch is factory the fender is not . You will have to trace the wiring for the fender switch. The factory alarm is a horn located on the drivers side rear behind the wheel. I believe the horn relay is located in the far right storage compartment where the jack is stored.
The ignition and door should use the same square head key. The oval key is for the storage compartment and the spare tire lock. The round key is for the factory alarm.
I thought about a replaced fender too. 68 and 69 are the only two years with shark gills and to my knowledge both years had the alarm switch in the rear. Also looking the car over I don't see any signs of damage or replacement
Tried to get to the switch from the engine compartment. Its behind a fiberglass wall. Tried from inside the car behind the speaker. No luck. Didn't want to put it on the lift to try from underneath. Just painted it. Looks some much better.
Yes. I remove the speaker panel and speaker. Also look up around the fuse box area. I believe it's outside of the interior area. Right behind the fuse box. If I get under the car and remove the skid plate and reach above the frame I might be able to get to it. That's another day project.
Could a locksmith make a key for it with it where it is? Probably not? If they could, at least you could turn the lock and see what happens. I'd be just to darn curious and impatient.
I've found 50 years of meddling. I figured the rear switch was wrong. I still need advice on how to get to the unknown switch. I can reach all riders gills from the engine bay. The rear drivers gill seems to be in a cavity between the engine bay and cabin. Hopefully someone has replaced a driver's side front finder and knows the construction of that area. Thanks for the help.
Remove the left kick panel where the radio speaker is and you can remove the vent door and reach in there. You remove the vent door it has a spring on one of the pivot shafts you either lift it up or down to get it out then you can reach inside
