I know i read a post about this but can not find it I have a 76 automatic trans and have a hard time with the size of the brake peddle will a smaller peddle from a manual fit or can I cut the peddle I have?
From what I gather , you have an automatic transmission, and need a replacement pad. Eklers carries them. I wouldn't cut your pedal down, because you are probably used to the full pedal as you drive. If you got into a panic situation, you may miss the pedal or your foot may slip off.
It's a 'safety' thing....if you have the space for a larger pedal, you increase safety factor with that larger pedal. Can you put a smaller (manual) pedal on it instead? Yes, if it fits over the metal plate.
my issue is my fat foot gets stuck behind the brake peddle when i am on the gas I always have to drive with just the tip of my shoe on the gas then lift up and over to brake.Trying to add safety by installing a smaller peddle to give some room.
Have a look at that link I posted. Paul (RIP) shortened an automatic pedal and found a new pad that fit, apparently he had like size 13 shoes or something

? Perhaps a local / regional company which specializes in retrofitting passenger cars / vans with controls for the handicapped could also supply / service your need ?

I wear a size 12 and have problems with my clumsy feet at the pedals. I do find that some of my shoes present less of a problem than others depending on their style and construction. You may want to experiment with this.
Thank you Mooser that is the link I remembered reading only is an issue with my work boots but that's most of the time and I am not carrying extra shoes so customize is the way to go for me thank you again.
I had the same problem with the brake pedal on my 73.
My size 12 would get stuck under the brake pedal and I found I needed to brake with my left foot.
I purchased a brake pedal pad for a 2000 Chevy C1500 truck from NAPA Auto Parts and cut the right side of the brake pedal to fit.
I don't recall the exact measurement, but is was approximately 1".
No more problem and I no longer worry about trying to stop and not being able to.
This is the same link and procedure I used.
Thanks Mooser! https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-13-feet.html
