Default Vintage air install question

I am installing the evaporator as part of the vintage air install on my 69 non air coupe. Can anyone confirm the firewall modification step? I placed the template as described in the instructions but want to confirm if this is correct prior to cutting.

Looks good but on my 69 I found there template cut out too much. But this place was hand cut at the factory. So there are prolly minor adj. either way no big deal. Plate covers nicely.

My install is from a few years ago but the template still seems the same.. You can do it from inside the car if its easier for you.

I added one extra picture in the firewall opening... I added U nuts to hold the cover plate on.. in my kit they include plastic push pins which dont give any type of support they just locate the plate to the firewall.

I found that U nuts and bolting the plate to firewall stiffens up the firewall in this area considerably because the opening is pretty big and the evaporator seemed to cause the firewall to flex from the top mount bolts as it hangs from it. Not sure how your kit is but it made mine much stiffer.

thanks for the tips. I used the press pins for the cover they feel secure. I had a hell of a time installing the hose cover with the provided self tapping screws. I ended up drilling pilot holes a and using small lag bolts.
