Default Tire Size for 69

Been doing allot of searching and researching so I apologize if this is another "What size tire post"
Have a stock 69 and I am currently running 245/60/15's and was thinking of going with the same.. I have also read some people putting on 255's on the rear with the 245's up front.
Whats the general consensus on tire size on a 69 vert.
Pics would be nice as well to show me what your car looks like with your recommendations..
Thanks Much.

The 255 may or may not clear do you have an extra 5mm on the inside with regard to the parking brake cable?
Have you already looked at the limited selection of 15" tires?

Parking brake cable is located in the stock location and yes I have seen the 15 inch selection.. I am going with Diamond Back Red lines and I was on there site.
What size are you running and are you happy with them? Are you running 15's?

I run 245s front and 255s rear on my 69. I have shortened the TRW fiberglass spring by one inch each end to assure clearance. I am currently running Mickey Thomson street tires. I need to lower the frond end a bit now with all of the aluminum under the hood, the frond end is a little lighter. My car is very comfortable to drive and we use it for long trips when we can.
It does not have power steering so the wider the tires get on the front, the more effort it requires when slow speed maneuvering,

Just last week I bought 4 new Cooper tires.
I like my rims so I stayed with 235-70-15 upfront and 255-60-15 in the rear.
Firestone doesn't carry that size anymore and I like the RWL.

If you want tires for 15" rims, you are pretty limited to brands for RWL tires: BFG, Cooper, Firestone has one still (I think), maybe M/T.

235R60-15's will fit the front wheels on ALL early C3's. There are some that will rub with 245's and half of them will rub with 255's on the front.

I'm not looking to do any 'road racing', so 235's all-around made sense to me. 235's have about the same diameter tire as the F70-15 stock tires. 245's are about 1/2" larger diameter. Either of those will work with little effect to your speedometer accuracy.

P.S. The equivalent radial tire to the F70-15's is the 215R70-15; but I like the look/stance of the 235R60-15's better.

I run BFG 255's all the way around. All stock 69 suspension with no modifications and nothing rubs.

But, 255's do stick outside the stock body envelope. Just stating facts....

Hi,

I just went through this exersize on my 71 convert. Went with BF Goodrich TA 245s all the way around. Won't rub, you can rotate them front to back, and it looks good.
