I have 2½" straight pipe- and when I close (variable) the straight pipe the exhaust will flow through the outer muffler. So I have the best of both world at the flick of a switch.
So you say that your wife has the "Screamer" muffler on her Mustang. How does the exhaust sound when the valve is closed?
I am hoping that someone on this forum has already installed the Screamer muffler on their C3.

It's the exact same thing- it's called an Active Exhaust- electric cut outs- Around town- under bridges- it's open. Long hauls down the highway or on a phone call she'll close it.
I have these: https://xforceusa.com/product/vmk52-300/ Varex, you can get a controller box for them for app control and geo-fence. They're still very sporty when closed.
I finally got the QTP Screamer Mufflers installed with a key fob remote. I'm very happy with the sound. It has a nice aggressive tone when cruising without any drone. It's a bit louder with the valves open, but not too loud.
The QTP Dual mode mufflers are working out very well. I actually prefer the sound of the mufflers when closed. The muscle car sound is louder than my '99 LS1 with the stock muffler and headers, but quiet enough for cruising long distances. I open them up when I'm cruising with the club because it reveals the sound of the cam a little more.
