Spring pocket / shock tower damage
Crack A is a pretty straight forward stitch, crack B however is a bit more challenging as the sides are so far out of alignment. I want to get my bearings before hammering things back into shape. This is the first Corvette I've done any significant work on.
Anyone have any pics of what this area should look like? Dug through the FSM and assembly manual but haven't found one taken at a useful angle for this exercise.
Is this damage common?
All of the ball joints were shot as were the control arm bushings. Both of the tie rods were bent as was the passenger side lower control arm cross shaft. This car has seen some abuse.
Rest of the frame visually looks ok so far but will be able to see more once I get the rear suspension tore out. I don't plan to pull the body off.
Bought the car on a whim a couple of years as I've always wanted a Corvette and needed a teaching platform for the kids. I don't want them wrenching on and tearing up my nice stuff while they learn.
Safety and function are the concerns. Car has been hacked up by several previous owners to the point that originality is not economically viable so its gonna be a hot rod.
