That must go over even better if it is a Corvette scar. Thought it would be cool to here about or see the various scars obtained working or driving in ours Corvettes.
That being said, about eight years ago while working on my '68; I had it on jack stands and had it supported in the wrong place, long story short the whole car came down onto my little finger. Luckily enough the ratchet extension I was using disconnected and therefore it didn’t sever my finger just flattened the knuckle. Three titanium screws later, I have no flexibility in it but I still have it.
I've barely had mine, got it in August, but.. here goes. While working on the brakes, I was trying to break loose one of the caliper bolts. I was laying underneath the car (on jackstands, of course), doing pullups on the breaker bar trying to get it to come loose. Well, it did, and my wrist scraped something, and I have a nice scar there now.
Another time, I was trying to break the lugnuts loose with a 4-way. I was standing paralell to the car, grabbing the two ends of the 4-way which were also paralell, pushing on the far one while pulling on the near one. The nut came loose suddenly, one hand smashed down onto the concrete. And since I was putting my weight on this, my body fell forward with it, where my other hand came up to meet my chin. No scars from that one, unless you count the emotional ones from the embarassment of doing that around friends.
And don't anybody laugh, EVERYBODY that's worked on cars has had a bolt or two slip loose on them when they didn't expect it. heh
When I was uncapping the cutouts on my 98 vette I had the jack under the rear crossmember with the handl sticking out. I slid out from under the vette and went to run around the rear of the car to get a set of pliars and forgot about the jack being there. I hit with me left foot as I was sprinting around the car and got hung up. My right knee came crashing down onto the concrete and split the skin open right under my knee cap, got a little scar. I'm just glad no one was walking by when it happened, I felt like such a dumbazz.
they dont call the knuckel busters for nothing...
my favorite was tightning a fan belt with the pry bar and it slipped giving me a 1" gash in my forhead. tip:: always tighten the belt away from face...OUCH
I have a nice little scar across my arm from the vette. I was redoing the fuel line from the pump to the carb when I noticed a nice little pool of blood forming on the cement. I looked around and finally noticed it was coming from my arm about an inch or so short of the vien at the wrist. I still do not know how it got there or what caused it only it happened. The only other bad thing that happened to me from the car was when it fell on me during the engine swap. I was fortunate to have a strong stomach and some quick help.
