ClassisAutoAir has complete conversion kits for C3 air vehicles. Everything needed is in the kit...brackets, new compressor, drier, hoses, VIR replacement, hardware. It is essentially Plug-n-Play. Just a 'heads up' for you -- getting that old VIR out of your right fender well is a real PITA. You will need the right sized sockets/crow's feet to get at those fitting nuts and BIG breaker bars to get them to come loose.
Still the ClassicAutoAir kits are the most economical and best quality systems I've found to convert C3 'air' cars over to 134a with modern Sanden compressor.
Awesome! A complete system is exactly what I’m looking for. I talked with Vintage Air, but they only offer systems that retro fit the existing a/c system to their system, rather than a replacement/upgrade. I’ll check out Classic Air today. Is a Sanden Compressor a good unit for my application? Thanks.
That's what everyone is using now. Small, efficient, does a good job. To be clear, the ClassicAutoAir system is a kit that retains most of the original system, so your A/C will operate in exactly the same way as stock...same controls, outlets; but the compressor, hoses, drier, VIR eliminator tube are all new. Half the cost of buying an under-dash Vintage Air system.
Thanks. I checked with VintageAir and they only have a complete system available for my Corvette. I really don’t need to replace the heater box and controls, etc. OriginalAir Company in Florida has a upgrade for my system that includes a new compressor, hoses and drier. I can also purchase a new parallel flow condenser on Amazon that fits my car. This seems to be the most economical way to upgrade my system.
Thanks for all the tips....👍
