Lars,
Finishing up the fuel system on this 73.
I am thinking just mount the fuel filter where I have it taped up, 90* straight across the front of engine, and 90 * straight into carb.
I cannot tell if the original line went under/ over the heater port, but I feel in the cool air out front is the ticket.
There are lots of ways to plumb this, but as long as your fuel line doesn't contact anything with hot coolant running through it, you're good to go. I admire that you're making your own line and using tube nuts with AN... Im lazy and would have gone all black braid with AN out of the pump to the carb.
Edit... probably the simplest thing here, pending that you aren't running a dropped base air cleaner, would be to run a female to female 90 degree (looks like -6?) connecting your banjo directly to the filter, and then make your flare on the existing line right there for the connection.

I could even kick down along the front and go under the stat housing and kick back up.
It would have a goose neck, but that would make an inverted p trap.

the banjo gives you the option of pointing the line down that you can get under the upper radiator hose. The world is your oyster. Like I said lots of ways to do this, but yea, ultimately you could go across the front and hide it under the hose and make it work. It would be discreet.

I am leaning that way. I can clamp it to an unused boss in the front.
I ran my '73 with a similar setup for 10 years without issue. New engine will have the filter mounted on the frame as I'll be feeding the fuel rails from the back.
DC3's all solid line setup is super clean and safe. But if you don't want to bend pipe why not just use a braided stainless steel hose with AN fittings? Still super clean, safe AND flexible, like the photo of my Fairlane's fuel line below. And if that is a glass filter canister, I wouldn't. They break too easily.
ok, the big loop of steel line. is the air stream from the fans gonna cool the fuel, or heat it as it has already gone thru the radiator?
Didn't appear to matter in my case. Never had an issue of any kind due to the way I plumbed the filter/fuel line over the 10 years or so I ran it that way.

That filter caught my eye. Is that an adapter at the outlet? It looks like you've solved a problem that has puzzled me for a while. Thanks.
