Without going into detail, if you have your differential worked on and they say they put the fluid in, do yourself a favor and take a couple minutes to take the plug out and make SURE it's in there.
I think I lucked out because it only went two miles to the alignment shop. No clicking or knocking, just a whine under load at the last minute. Doesn't sound trashed. I think I can flush it and refill and be OK. It's just that it was SUPPOSED to be in there. I was in such a rush to get the rear end back together because I'm moving. I was REAL careful about everything but made this horrible assumption. I'm leaving names out because I think that it was an honest mistake and I should have checked but I didn't.
Chris: Yeah. It was the local guy. I think it was just a an oversite because I told them by phone to add the fluid after they had finished working on the rear end. Maybe the shop help just fell down on this one. Again, I don't think it's trashed and it certainly wasn't intentional. P.S. I'm moving down to the Largo are. Isn't that where Vettefinders is?
Just be careful out there and don't make the same assumption I made. Five minutes of prevention could have saved me several hours of terror. Mistakes and oversites can happen in the shop.
He is soo correct on this I allways double check every thing I can after a repair is done by others or myself.Maybee the majority of the time its a waste of time but that one time you find something not completed correctley makes all the other times worth it.I actually check the top latches on my C5's top every time I get into it in fear my wife may have put the top up to keep the int clean, and not latched them
