Does anyone know of better weather stripping for ttops for C3 (72) vette? Or know a thread that talks about how to adjust them so water doesn't pour inside the cabin? Thanx in advance. PS.. I had new weather stripping put on last year, but don't know which brand was bought.
Wow. Never heard of a Corvette hatch roof leaking before, lol. I think they were tested to make sure they leaked at least the minimum amount from the factory. It. Was not a teriffic design. But weather stripping and adjusting will help. I think the AIM manual has some adjustment procedures.
Actually, my factory weatherstripping on my '76 was great even at 35 years old. It wasn't until I replaced it that I had trouble. I believe the best weatherstripping you can get now is from Willcox Corvette. They have installation tips also. I bought some replacement weatherstripping from them to replace this other stuff I bought, just haven't had time to install yet. I would pay someone to do it as I don't have the magic touch. It's all in the install and adjustment.
Before you buy weatherstrip, take the time to readjust the tops. Follow the factory manual. To the T! Get them adjusted correctly with the headliners removed so you can get a light in there and make certain there on tight. In ALL places.
read the factory manual!
Mine leaked for years, thought it was normal. read the instructions, redid them, no leaks!
