I am installing a VIR eliminator to fix the AC system on a 73 BB. Here is my dilemma. Without disassembly how do I get to the Low side port on either the stock VIR or on the eliminator?? First it is buried. Second, the heater hoses run over the top of the unit. Removing the radiator overflow each time I need to get to it seems a little crazy.
Is there an extension for this port that someone is aware of so you can at least reach down there to get to the port? Thanks
Breaking the large tubing nuts loose to remove that VIR is the most difficult thing I've ever had to do on a C3. I won't tell you what I did to resolve the issue, but it was "dicey". In the end it worked OK. I just could not break that upper nut loose. When I finally extracted it from the car (with that nut still intact and holding firm, I took it to my big vise. It took a 3 foot breaker bar to get enough torque to get it to pop loose.
You just have to do the deed. If you just cannot get it loose, send me a PM and I will tell you how I resolved that stumbling block.
