Have you ever changed the filter sock in the tank?
Hoses on the tank?
no
thank you... only slide 41.. yes sorry long thread debated new one but would miss history..redundant questions..
it runs and flows perfect..when i changed pump the level was lower and it pours out..very weird why sets..warm.. then occasionally does this.. i have no clue if adding gas or waiting another few minutes.. its like OFF on the gas.. it died hard.. dry carb.. not like restriction or anything...
plenty of flow cold running..just this very weird off on issue..new pump flowed like crazy..

The majority of fuel line degradation usually occurs inside; where the gas is attacking (along w/ whatever other solvents the refiners are including these days).
I agree, ethanol fuel totally ruined my new gas tank and hoses. The hoses at the rear tank connections still looked new, but were eaten up inside and sticky. Replaced fuel tank, sending unit, rubber hoses, S hose, fuel pump and filter. Now I only use ethanol free gas and the tank still looks new inside and hoses are not affected.

That is the symptom.
You drive along, and the sock sucks closed. You sit awhile, and it starts right up after the sock relaxes.
I have seen it twice on Vette runs.
That is why I preach about them
They are all 50 years old.
You can do later ones via the lid.
Remove lid, loosen tank straps, lower a few inches.
Needle nose will get the rubber hoses.
The vapor hose on drivers side, better to drop the tank.
It is was it is.
Normally I would say yes, fuel boiling from the carb or vapor lock like symptoms. But The carb has no fuel even after running 2 minutes? The pump should have filled the carb long ago unless the pump is truly vapor locked.
How would heat be related to hoses being decayed. Wouldn't fuel starvation occur regardless of heat? Same with the sock in the tank?
no sir..plenty of gas..visually and when filling up takes no more than 11 gallons to top...
did the same thing at initial failure replaced fuel pump..spilled a gallon, and ran 50 miles before filling up again

ill search some threads and read manual..
your saying drop tank not through lid? I have fat hands and 11 gallons of fuel....or do i need to do both?

Drain tank.
Remove spare and carrier.
Open lid, unplug sender.
Jack with wood block under tank.
Let her down. Easier with helper.
Wear glassses. Lots of crap in eyes.
You need to recreate the situation while at home. Then pull the fuel line and see if the pump is pumping fuel or not. That's what I would try to do first.

Next time install a priming ball for a Mercury outboard boat motor so the squeeze ball is in the line just out of the fuel door.
Squeeze the ball and it sucks the fuel for you.
Once the fuel starts flowing, stop squeezing the ball.
Simple and no tasty gas.
