Spark plug wires lengths information for 1982 Corvette
Just changed the spark plug wires on my 1982 crossfire with HEI distributor. The new set of wires was ACDelco 608D, GM12043728, without any indication of wires lengths, nor the cylinder numbers. Searched internet (including this forum) for information regarding the length of wires for individual cylinders and found many different hints and all of them with different dimensions.
Thus, contrary to advice to work on one wire at the time I was forced to take all old wires off the car, measure their length and try to find the best fit from ACDelco set. I am placing this information on forum hoping that somebody with the 1982 Corvette could save some time searching for the right wires lengths. My 1982 has the original set-up with all the heat shields for the spark plugs and the wires (enjoyed removal of the starter in order to remove the shield for #2 and #4 ). Please note that I have the car for less than a year and cannot guaranty that the old wires were original.
Sorry for text formating mess. The data should read: Cyl. No. - Length found on the car - Length installed from ACDelco set
#1 - 41 ½” - 44”
#2 - 45 ¼” - 51 ½”
#3 - 47” - 51 ½”
#4 - 37 ½” - 40”
#5 - 26” - 28”
#6 - 26” - 28”
#7 - 20” - 22 ¼”
#8 - 21” - 22 ½”

I'm sure you looked this up in the Service Manual and the AIM manual. Funny those BOOKS have virtually everything you need....including pictures.
I will give you a tip not indicated in the service manuals.
Clean the engine mounts of grease and grime then silicone the spark plug rubber shrouds for those two spark plug wires and feed them through from underneath...THEN do the distributor cap ends.
When I ordered the PACKARD grey HEI spark plugs wires from CC...they fit perfectly and were of high quality.
I have both of the books, but no information regarding the length of the wires. Keep in mind that I live in Switzerland where we do not have car parts shops, i.e. I am fully depending on internet shopping and provided (or not) specifications.
I did guide #1, #2, #3 and #4 as you are suggesting.

Even after figuring out which wires go where, you can also shorten up any extra lengths to clean up the look if you want. I shortened four of them and it was not that hard. Several videos on YouTube.
