I have replaced my mechanical fan and shroud with a Black Magic unit. (1969 small block). I also did a Borgeson conversion and no longer have the ram strut.
Would it be possible to fit a long water pump ?
If so, would it interfere with a speaker bar ?
The reason I ask is I may have a line on a good, complete, pulleys included performance SBC. My water pump is a bit tired... A drop in swap would be nice.
I am currently running a LWP on a 78 resto-mod with a small block. To do this you have to change all pulleys and accessory mounts. I used Billet Specialties mounts/pulleys with a fabricated spreader bar. Also, no vacuum pump or A/C compressor. Problems you will run into are clearance between crank pulley/front cross member and between the fan/radiator. Don’t know about commercially available spreader bars. I am running an electric fan and a 2-groove pulleys on the crank and water pump. With this set up there is just enough room between the pulley and the cross member to get the fan belts on and we had to do some creative fabrication with the spreader bar to get it to clear the water pump pulley. Unless you just feel like you have to do it I would recommend against it. It’s a little like “wack-a-mole”. Only reason I did it is because 1-it is a resto-mod so “correctness” doesn’t matter; 2-I had the setup from another build collecting dust in the shop; and 3-It looks cool. I also moved the alternator to the right side but my mount is higher than yours. You may have trouble with the alternator clearing the front cross member. Like I said, it's like playing wack-a-mole.

Reason: Forgot Alternator part
