Good question. I don't know. Good possibility it does not apply.
But my feeling is the same even if it is not required. I would be suspicious of any business that does not want to return old parts if asked. Why not? They still belong to the car owner. Not the shop the removed them. The only caveat would be rebuilt parts that have core charges.
