Re: Need to replace MSD 6. Any recommendations? (70PurpleLS7)
Hmmmm, Ok, I did not know that. I am having a problem right now, low primary voltage at the ign coil. (2-4 volts running) Could one of you guys check the voltage at the + and - terminals of your coil while car is running with an analog meter, please. I am almost positive this is my problem, but if I could compare, that would confirm it.......
Thank You guys for setting me straight.
Re: Need to replace MSD 6. Any recommendations? (69er)
Since this is my first vintage car, I am used to (and have always run) electronic ignitions.
I agree with the two posters above who advised to send the box back to MSD. MSD is very good (from my experience) about fixing a bad ignition box/coil, although it doesn't sound like your fuseable link is blown or the car wouldn't fire at all (this is most common when people do not mount them away from moisture/heat).
I can also vouch for the Crane unit. However, I have two friends who have used the "new and improved" MSD Digital-6 and both crapped out on them (and these were installed correctly ;)). They were having issues with the multiple rev-limiter controls as well. Could just be bad boxes, I don't know.
