Took the vette out a few times this year and still dealing with some engine(timing/no go)/trans(leaks/hard shifts-auto) issues. Been thinking about doing a full crate engine/trans swap just to avoid chasing down issues in the future. I have to get the main seal/gaskets in the trans done due to leaks, so figured it might be best to swap everything out for new/rebuilt since they might have to drop the trans anyways.
Timing issues should be easy, or at least cheap, to fix. Adding a third pedal will solve your transmission problems, and make the car so much quicker, you may not notice the engine.
Crate 400 will pull a 3.08 gear fine, no need for OD or regearing. Those engines make tons of torque
All you need is a half decent head, headers and roller cam;tough to beat for the $
