Default PS Pump leak

I purchased a Brand New PS pump for my 1971 (after trying a rebuilt piece of trash replacement pump last year) from a trusted Corvette parts supplier that everyone on the Forum will know and respect and after my installation was complete, it began to leak like a sieve from the Flow Control Valve Fitting without ever having started the engine.

I tightened the fitting a good bit and it seemed to get worse!!!

So I removed the high pressure hose and Flow Control Valve and have set out to replace the O-ring, having purchased a new O-ring replacement kit. With the Flow Control valve removed, the existing O-ring appears to be absolutely fine and free of any nicks or blemishes that would cause a leak.

I am wondering if overtightening of the Flow Control Valve to the pump housing (trying to remedy the leaking ) can cause a failure of the pump reservoir to pump housing mating O-ring at the Flow Control Valve penetration and could that be the cause of the leak ?

Thoughts form any experts out there?

iirc..
the angle of the threaded hole and the actual male end may seem to go a certain way, meaning you may have screwed it on cocked to one side..

Appreciate the feedback but bear in mind that it is not the HP hose makeup to the Flow Control Valve Fitting of the pump that is leaking but the Flow Control Valve Fitting to the pump housing that is leaking.

That is installed when you buy the pump and was not cross threaded when I removed it.

actually if im reading corectly you say youve replaced it and or checked it. if so i cannot imagine (other than the p/s fluid housing being bent in that area) why it would leak there.
I seem to also recall theres an additional smaller o ring inside farther on the other end of that female bolted connector.

if you took it all the way apart here are the additional o rings that could leak from 1 the female connector or 2 the two studs...

That’s the correct fitting. If you review my original
lost take note that I did not disassemble the pump. I just removed the fitting and noted that the o ring seemed perfect as I would expect in a new pump

iirc, the o ring i show cannot be removed without pulling apart the pump. i'm just guessing here that maybe its not there.
or maybe "If your Corvette is a 1980-1982, be sure to install the small o-ring. There is also large o-ring that sits behind the big nut in back of the PS pump. If you want to change this, be aware that it's spring-loaded. Oil o-rings with p/s fluid and carefully thread in the couplers."
is this the o ring you spaek of? if so it shouldnt be there..
