Make sure you have these steering stops on and on the correct side

I also ran 255/60R15 tires on my 77 without any rubbing issues.

hello again I only see two bolts that hold in the lower ball joint. It toward the bottom of your picture. Don't get me wrong but is the stop on the left side of you picture that metal tab sticking out ? Think mine are shot what can be done? Weld a new tab or tap and thread a new stop bumper? I am new to corvettes but have worked on my cars for 30 years and never ran in to this problem

The stops are part of the bolts that hold the ball joint on. Yours are missing or on the other side.

The special attaching bolt should be on the side facing front of car of each control arm.
The correct ball joint and hardware kit from MOOG is K-6035.
Example:

ya it looks like front end work was done a lot of bubba In the car. They might have wanted more angle for the wheel so they removed. Will have to see what I can do. What is the tab on the back because I found other post on this forum that said that the tabs were the stops they look like they are warn out. Thank you for your help

I just went out and looked at my 77. The upper & lower ball joints are still original and riveted.
These joints were riveted originally to speed up installation on the assembly line and not bolted.
I don't see how NOT having that special bolt makes much difference in your case. I wouldn't focus only in that area .

So to give you some idea how long that welded stop tab should be.
The area under the point has a radius cut in it, most likely for tie-rod sleeve clearance.
Hope this helps.
