1969 Vette. I have done a frame off resto and never got to hear what the horn should sound like. All new wiring. All new horn relay but old horns. When the car is not running the horns sound ok. Loud wise. But I notice they sound very weak while engine is running. Anybody deck this problem before? Thanks!!
That is very strange Cam but you should be able to run this down fairly easily.
Check voltage at horn (unplugged) connector with key off and someone pressing the horn button. Then again with key on or car running and recheck for a voltage drop. If it's significantly different my guess would be your horn relay is bad. There just isn't anything else in that system.
Cheers, Greg
Hello. I don't think it could be a part of your problem but that horn relay also has the "key in ignition" wire and internal buzzer. Just saying. Take care.
