hey guys, so i just installed a new fuel pump and relay. They car started up great and had 9psi for fuel pressure. I cut it off and went to start it again. Now the fuel pump wont stop priming and the car has a super rough idle. The only thing i could think is either the ecm or relay? Could there be something im missing?
If it won't stop priming, it is possible there is a leak somewhere which won't let the system reach the required pressure, at least not long enough to shut off the pump. It could also be in the pressure regulator. Also check to see if one of the injectors is leaking during priming. It needs to see a minimum pressure level to allow the pump to shut off. Have you put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail to see what pressure it is achieving?
The GM specifications for fuel pressure was 9 to 13 psi; however, the recommendation was increased to 14 psi to eliminate occasional stumbling or if the engine wasn't getting enough fuel at about 4,000 rpm.
I don't own a 82. But I once owned a 84. Always thought, have read . 13 - 14 PSI on a crossfire EFI system. If I had 10. I would be finding out why and fixing it.

IMO FWIW, setting the fuel pressure at a minimum of 13psi IS required on a bone stock CF motor. 10 psi IS NOT good enough. How are you checking the FP and what fuel rail are you talking about since the stock CF does not have a fuel rail with shrader valve. I also think you have a leak somewhere and maybe at the pump (short hose) that connects pump to output line or on the top of the tank (small hoses) that crack from being old. I would pull the pump and thoroughly check that first. Also, your pump MAY not be strong enough to achieve 13psi, if that is the case, install the 85-87 corvette TPI pump and again regulate to 13psi.
