A different brake problem
I put a vacuum on the booster and it leaked down pretty quick.
Bought a new booster that holds a vacuum and it appeared to help a bit.
Then I noticed that the pedal slowly went to the floor when pressure was applied.
Bought a new mc.
I used a mc/booster tool to set the correct booster rod length.
The pedal will now stay up and firm, but I still had a hard pedal and 30% braking.
He combination block/valve tested good and I could bleed the brakes at all wheels.
Grasping at straws, I changed the block and got no improvement.
I bled the brakes a couple of times, but even if there was a little air in the system, it would be a soft pedal and still grab the brakes. Right??
Pads are good and no leaks anywhere.
Engine has 17" of vac at idle and runs well. The car worked well for 10+ yrs with this vac.
I'm stumped.
Any suggestions??
All the good local shops are backed up 1-6 mos. I got a appointment with "the local brake guy" that was recommended by one of "the Corvette guys" in about 1 mo., so I have a little time to fiddle around.
I checked all the above and checked that the booster is connected to the right hole in the brake pedal.
I've ordered a set of ss braided caliper hoses. Mine are 15?? yrs. old. I don't have a lot of confidence that this will help, but it's fairly cheap and there is a chance it will help.
