Default 68 headlights

I was cleanIng the fiber optic ends at the headlights to improve the light intensity at the console and noted the high beams were T3’s with the glass tit and black rubber boot to facilitate light to the sensor. But the low beams were halogen lights with no glass tit or rubber boot. The bulb had some kind of clear rubbery cement in place of the glass tit, but without the boot left a 1/2” air gap between the cement and the sensor (can’t be good for light transfer).
I assume the original T3 low beam bulbs were the same as the high beams (tit and black rubber boot)?
I see some of the vendors list the T3 bulbs. What is the suggestion?
retro fit the current halogen bulbs with a black rubber boot, or buy T3’s?

yes the original were the same as your high beam.
unless you come up with a way for the light to come out a small spot in the back of the halogen and manage to attach the fiber optic it wont work.
I switched to Cibie halogen Z beams for all 4 and just left the fiber optic disconnected.

Thanks for the reply. For this vette I’m trying to keep original when possible. I’m going back to the T3’s.

Yea I saw these when I was looking for T3 headlights. A little different than original, but necessary if using headlights with the glass nib/tit.
Not sure how well they would work with headlights without the glass nib/tit.
