Default My 69 build thread

Finally got around to taking some pictures and organizing a bit. Have now put a couple hundred miles on the car and slowly working out bugs. The goal was a light, hot rod toy that I am going to drive a bunch. Will take it to the strip, track days and lots of street driving. I will first post my chassis build thread below so I don’t have to repeat all that stuff. Take a look. Can’t wait to weigh the car but it should be very light. All bumpers are Don Anderson’s fiberglass. No heater, radio, ps, pb, light wheels and tires, and aluminum everything I could. Ignore the hood fitment as it was hitting so I shimmed the front up high until I can get to it. Will post some build pictures in subsequent posts. These are as the car sits now.

Nicely done Bill! I really like what you did w/ the hood. And the headers and exhaust system are a work of art! How does it drive?

Beautiful car. Out of all the questions I could ask, I picked this one, lol. Are those 1" shank lug nuts, and if so, do you have any info on them?

Thank you especially David and Richard. Will take a pic tomorrow of your terrific spreader bar David. Richard, your headlight kit is awesome, just need you to help me get them adjusted lol. Going to post a video of them.

73C34ME, probably won’t be until I get back south at the end of the month before I get it weighed. I am as curious as you, but I am really hopeful it is down near 3000 pounds. No radio, heater, ps ,pb, coilovers, Wilwood aluminum calipers, light wheels and tires, fiberglass bumpers and no front supports, no vacuum stuff etc have me feeling optimistic.😀😀😀

Mark, it runs great. Still breaking in the clutch, but it spins beautifully to 7200 without feeling a drop off. Gotta get your shifter in it this weekend. Don’t like how the Hurst feels. Handles great as well. A far cry from your beast but I am closer than I was.👍👍

Kevin, posted below is a link for where I bought the lug nuts. The P.S Engineering Wheels I run came with this type of lug nut, but when I went to 1/2 inch wheel studs I had to buy the link ones.

Sunflower, thank you very much! 😎

Mine are the 3/4 inch hex, 5/8 inch shank, 1/2 in 20 studs and aluminum.
