So tore down the steering column to put Loctite on the infamously loose 4 bolts that house the tilt function. I've putting everything back together all the way up to the turn signal mechanism (the part that feeds wires through the column), I tested the function of the signal lever for proper operation, first checking the high beams which work. Unfortunately, the signal lever refuses to move upward for a right turn signal. It will move down for the left signal, will move back up to the neutral position but will not move upwards. I've used a borescope to ensure the proper instillation/placement of the actuator arm that screws into the turn signal mechanism and to check for anything blocking movement but cant visually see anything stopping it. As it turned out, the actuator was not all the way in the slot it sits in and would slip out of it, as if the actuator's nub was suddenly not long enough to sit in its hole, it was creating small metal shavings when it pushed out Me loving JB weld like I do, I added some to the nub and sanded it to a nice round finish with a Dremel to give it that little bit of extra length. I screw in the actuator back in place only to find out that it still would not move. I used the borescope again to ensure placement, this time with the extra length it was definitely pushing it up but refusing to move upward for some other reason. Friends I'm at a loss for thoughts of how to proceed. Both signals were functioning properly before it was taken apart. I removed to cover for more visual but everything seems to be in place. Have any of you got any ideas? or possibly have had the same problem before?
On an unrelated note, today I had to cut the pitman arm in half because it had a welded strength hold on both the control valve and the steering gearbox :/ nothing a hacksaw can fix
