Default Floor jack and jack stand recomendation...

I was thinking about getting the items below. I appreciate any opinions/concerns, or other recommendations (I know be careful what you ask for.)

Floor jack: https://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-...een-64784.html

Jack stands: https://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-...nds-91760.html

Rubber pad for jack stands: https://www.harborfreight.com/rubber...-pc-63373.html

Thanks,

Steve

I have that exact jack (except mine is black). It works fine. I have no experience with those jack stands but they look decent. The steel HF jackstands are the ones that had the recall and safety problems.

I have the long reach (pitsburg one silver one 8 yrs old), and the newer standard low pro(red pitsburg) a few months. theyre pretty good, VERY similar build as the colorful daytona versions, usually 50 bucks less.
almsot the same 2 in this vid

you dont really need the long reach ones(unless you need more height). its easy to slide under the vette, and get a few half pumps for it to start raising.
Prime the hydralic good, like the vid and youll get quicker throw with shorter dead spot.

Stepped up and bought the super duty one.

I have had a Daytona jack for over 25 years. It still works fine. I always use a jack stand. No problems. Jerry

I’ve had the Craftsmen jack and jack stands for at least ten years.
Never an issue with either.
The stands you posted look just like my Craftmen and are probably manufactured at the same Factory.
I don’t think you can go wrong with anything Harbor Freight anymore.
Unless you are super rich and can afford Snap-On, I think most tools and equipment on the market today are all about the same quality.
I recently purchased a Gantry Crane from HF even after many on CF said they were not made in USA and China junk.
I did a bunch of research and the USA made ones I found (of equal or more cost) were made of smaller diameter, thinner wall steel and the quality was not as nice.
HF had a recent recall on some of their jack stands.
I talked with the manager at my local HF store and he told me they have five different vendors who manufacture their jack stands and they found a poor weld on the stands manufactured at just one of their vendors and only during a short manufactured date time.
Check with your local store just to make sure you don’t end up with one of the recalled stands.

I took my recalled stands to the local Pearl Harbor Freight and they gave me $75 in store credit....
They were grey and very heavy.....said Pittsburg on them....I had them for 5 years prior....

This is the one I have as well. This is one of the gems you’ll find in that store. Infact read up on the snap on lawsuit about that jack and you’ll understand.

I bought this one last year after the “return” spring broke on my ancient craftsman.

https://www.harborfreight.com/15-ton...ack-64545.html

it’s a great little jack... super light and good for most general stuff.

i often will jack up the corvette and slide ramps under the front tires. This is the only thing this jack can’t get the car up high enough to do.

Craftsman jackstands in the same size are cheaper if your ok with steel and go higher.

I do not recommend the craftsman jack, mine bleeds off pressure, has since the day i bought it.

I switched to 6-ton stands a while back. Getting the same height without as much extension on the stand and the extra stability of the wider base give me a lot more comfort when getting under the vehicle.

Default Husky 3.5 Ton

I went with a Husky 3.5 ton model. Seems really well built. Heavy as hell.

Me too, I just picked these up the other day at Eastwood. They have a nice size footprint on the ground compared to most others.Frame Base Dimensions: 9.4"x10.8" (238x275 mm) 6 ton capacity.

Yeah, for some reason, Harbor Freight is a good place to buy a jack. I have FOUR of them! I didn't want to buy a lift.
