Default LS Side Pipe

Hello Everyone,
Hope everyone is staying safe during these bazzar times. I am mounting a LS engine in my 71 C3 and wanted to see what everyone has done for side pipes. Alot of my buddies tell me not to do side pipes for various reasons but I think they look Killer! Some look to be more obnoxious then others. Can you guys post up some pictures of what you have with a brand name please. Only LS ones please thanks!

Summit sells Patriot in a bunch of different lengths shouldnt be too hard to plumb to your headers....Hooker sells something similar also.

If you want to use factory style sidepipes, you can use factory LS manifolds or shorty headers and connect them to the factory style mufflers.

For the Hooker style, two choices:
1) Pay the $$$
2) Get a set of small block sidepipe headers (1-7/8" primaries), LS flanges, and learn to weld.

Side pipes look cool. I'm sure your friends told you they are very loud unless you have some sort of muffling.

I built mine custom, even with a turbo between the LS engine and side pipe, it's still a bit loud. I'm going to try to put in a spiral baffle to quiet it down.

This is what I'm thinking of adding to my 4" side pipe.

If you're also a DIY kinda guy, you could also consider using on of the stock LS cast manifolds and attaching to the flange or even cut the flange off and replace with a V band connector to optimize the fit. The cast flange can easily be welded onto.

Steve is exactly right, really the only options.

I'm running Hooker shorty headers with mine and it's a great fit w/ the OEM style side pipes.

Ok....I see the differance now. The long tube headers are the expensive part that then connects to the mufflers outside of the fender. The cheaper Route would be Ls manifolds and then buy the single side pipes and get a muffler shop to connect them correct? I cant belive I never noticed that difference. The single pipe is a little more sleek and not as obnoxious as the full header option. If it was a track car I would see an advantage.

68 vette, 6.0 LS, o2 vette Z06 manifolds (flow better than most headers, have O2 bung, clears z bar), Sweet Thunder sidepipes under 69 OEM covers. Muffler shop fabbed connection.

This is very helpful! I wonder if the C6 ones will work also and clear the Borgeson steering box? I found a set of those they look shorter is all.

Billyboat exhaust headers (stainless) for my LS swap. Call cic or bbe, I assume they're still able to get/build them. But as pricey as the Detroit speed. That was a couple of years ago. I re used my obx pipes and have vettepacks inside.
