My 73. I pulled alot out. Adding in: 3 drive shaft/ 1/2 shaft loops, reinforced frame, blow proof bell housing and 6 pt roll bar put me at 3070 lbs w/ hooker side exit exhaust. Under car 3” - 2-1/2” w/ flowmasters added 30 lbs for 3100 lbs w/ 1/2 tank of gas
Not sure about that weight. BJ might know. Be interesting to know the entire weight of the whole vacuum system for the lights compared to the electric conversion all said and done.
But then, the ultimate weight savings would come from several other areas like going to an aluminum LS engine... which I would like to do some day. But that requires more changes for a reliable system... $$$$ and time.

AC compressor AC Condensor gone ~ 95lbs (for ALL AC related parts)
Steel rallys gone, Replaced with outlaw Am racing 19 pounds each... ~ 40lbs
255-60-15 rear / 225 -60-15 front ~ (+ 10lbs estimate)
Whole convertible top and hardware gone ~ 50lbs (by your other thread)
Aluminum heads ~ 40lbs for typical replacement heads
Heavy air filter assembly gone ~ 10lbs?

factory carb gone replaced 750 holley ~ (+1-2lbs?)
Stock exhaust manifolds gone ~ 10lbs
Hooker headers 2 1/2 factory mufflers swapped w flowmasters 40's ~ (you probably broke even here)
spare tire and harness gone ~ 70lbs
Spare jack gone ~ 20lbs??? w tire iron

Front license plate assembly gone ~ depends what you mean by this...
Speaker boxes 8 pounds each gone ~ 16lbs

Dont underestimate how heavy some ov this stuff is. By just the stuff i addressed above (so not including the licence plate bit or pulley), i'm seeing around 400lbs. With seats you can lose 25-30lbs without even straying from original C3 parts. Probably another 5-10 over that with import seats or aftermarket. These are weights i've seen recorded here many times, and many from the GM manuals as well.
Even with all this... you've not even begun. These cars can be LIGHT... i'm finding... and thats without even breaking out the holesaw or spending a fortune on high-tech lightweight parts.

Anyone know the weight of the vacuum canister is on my car ?
Most guys weigh the entire crossmember (73-79) at around 45-48lbs. I'd imagine ALL the other vacuum stuff in there would add a notable amount to this too. Thats weight right where you dont want it too...

I'm curious to know when EXACTLY they went from the heavier seats to the lighter ones. Some time in the mid-late 70's, but what exact year, and how much would be good info to have.

They are not only lighter, but more comfortable.
In 1978, Pace Car C3s came with the (lighter) clam shell (clamshell) seats, in silver only.
Starting in 1979, ALL C3s came with the clam shell seats.
With rails, the clam shell seats weigh 27 lbs.

I swear i read here that the early C3 guys weighed out their seats at much heavier than that. Consensus says you can save 25-30lbs a pair. I just dont know from when to when. 27 is actually really light. My Celica seats (from the superlight 2000 model) probably weighed that. My heavy Scirocco seat weighs 33lbs.
Problem I see when trying to find different seats is the room.....19 inches max width and if your seat part is long, it can't be more than 17 inches wide in the front or it hits the console...Plenty of Racing seats out there....Just not a lot of room....
