Floor insulation
I chose an insulation with no asphalt to eliminate any possibility of a bad smell. (I used SecondSkin Damplifier Pro.) Reviews suggest that thicker is better. The product I used is 70 mils thick. I covered all of my floorboards, including under the seats. I covered the sides of the tunnel and I covered all the rear storage compartment including the storage wells. On the floorboards I applied the mat in double thickness. I did not do the doors or the T-Tops.
The result was excellent. Noise and heat were drastically reduced. Well worth the effort. The hardest part, if any part was hard, was scraping all the original carpet glue from the floor. I got it really clean. I put the new carpet down with strategic placement velcro rather than glue. The carpet has been down for several years and shows no signs of movement.
