Wiring Questions
Almost 1 year ago today I bought a Corvette, a little bit on a whim because it was literally at a neighbors house and I was looking for a COVID project. I installed a new starter and she drove for about 7 minutes before dying out on me. I started chasing wires and ended up completely disassembling the interior only to find the standard NEWB Corvette mistakes.
WELL IM STILL HERE, and today she fired up and rolled out of the garage under he own power. We've got a LLLOONNNGGG way to go, but to know that she starts and runs and can move again means it's all going to be worth it in the end.
I want to give a HUGE shout out to @bradleyb66 for walking a significant part of this journey with me, and to @Richard454 , @doorgunner , and @Factoid for helping out as well. THANK YOU GUYS!
In the end, it was the positive battery cable. I was able to locate a secondary piece of Bubba-ness. They'd spliced together a part of the cable and put a copper sheath around their splice. I was able to eliminate the splice and use the original positive cable and she started trying to turn over right away. New oil, new plugs, and 5 gallons of gas and she fired up after some work with Carb Fuel, left her running for a while to circulate gas and get the new oil through the system as well. I shut her back down because I don't have gauges so I wouldn't know if temps were going high or oil pressure was way too low. But no leaking appearing underneath.
On to the next thing to fix!!
