I replaced mine on my 73 convertible. You can remove the two metal brackets (with felt) at the top of the door, BE Sure to Mark location for correct replacement. You may want to replace them if the felt is gone. The nuts at the bottom of each bracket are a bit painful to get back on, I like masking tape on my finger. Be careful when you remove the screws as they are Tiny and will fall into the bottom of the door. If they are rusted replace with stainless steel from a hardware store. Once the screws are removed use a plastic trim tool to Gently Remove the trim/wipe from the outer door skin.
If you look at the replacement wipes, they have metal looking “mushroom” caps that compress when pushed into the door skin. WARNING on my car the restoration Wipe “Mushrooms” caps did not Exactly align up with the original trim/wipe. I then drilled new holes with my trusty Dremel, being EXTREMELY Careful. The door is fiberglass and you don’t want to drill through the outer skin. I used a small chain saw grinding stone (shape of a small pencil) to ensure the New holes were Oblong Shaped like the “mushroom” caps. Good Luck
On a 78 it’s just the three screws. Bottom out the two lower limit stops inside the front and rear window guide channels if you need more clearance at the top.
