Thanks to all for the great feedback. I ran the numbers through a DCR calculator and came up with 8.6. I am running some really nice AFR aluminum heads so I am assuming I should be good. Thanks again
Thats on the edge. Run non ethanol fuel if you can get it. Gonna have to pay attention to the details I listed earlier to keep detonation at bay. If you just polished up the combustin chambers you might increase the volume just a scootch to get that CR dwon just a bit.
In fact I would polish the combustion chambers particuarlly around the spark plug holes. Sharp edges get hot promoting pre ignition or detonation. Take off any sharp edges. Polishing the chambers gives the carbon less to stick to keeping them cleaner so that CR doesn't rise a bit due to carbon build up over time. Also on the piston tops take a sanding drum around the valve cutouts beveling the edges just a little bit to take off the sharp edges there as well. Same treatment to the spark plug ground strap, no sharp edges.
