Default Under dash wiring questions

Swapping out my standard column with a tilt tele. Seems like the right time to swap my busted up drivers dash and speedo/tach housings. Changing all the dash bulbs for good measure.

Have a few odd plugs and things I can't identify. Anyone able to id these please?

Not sure what this plug is for or why the condensor was spliced in?

What is this cable runs under the steering column, some kind of vent opener?

Im assuming this plug with wire hanging off the end goes to the condersor coil mounted to the steering column. My condensor is missing the wire. What is the purpose of the condensor?

Both condensers (pics #1 & #3) are noise suppressors for electrical spikes that create 'pops' in radio sound. Back then, noise filtering was not part of the radio electronics, so those condensers were placed on ignition noise items and various switches (brake, turn signal, etc) so that you didn't get a 'pop' or 'buzzing' in your Barry Manilow recording.

If you have the stock radio in your car, you may want to use them. But I'm sure the ones in your car are no longer functional. If you have an aftermarket radio made after 1985, you don't need them.

I'm not sure what you are showing in pic #2. It could be the odometer reset cable....

#1 plug is for the brake pedal switch

#2 If the car didnt have aircon fitted at factory it has two vent slides (levers) on the centre console , they open small vent doors at your feet , that is probably the cable for the drivers side

That goes to the brake light switch- I'd pull out the capacitor out of the 3M scotchlocks and toss it in the garbage. Was to stop pops on the AM when you hit the brakes.

Be careful when you plug that back on- as the brake light switch might just fall apart!!!

For a non AC car - that the Astro vent cable-

Yep - that's were a capacitor was off the ignition switch- make sure you tape that wire off- it's got +12volts
