Hi all - I have a 1969 L71 with an M21 Muncie 4 speed. All stock setup. I was driving last week and seemingly out of nowhere I went to shift into third gear and it "wasn't there" - i.e. I could put the shifter into that proper position but it wouldn't grab anything and when I let out the clutch it was just in neutral. Bu 2nd gear and 1st gear still worked. Tried to limp home and the complete H-pattern disappeared as I shifted a few more times in between 1st and 2nd. I made it home but now the shifter has no pattern whatsoever and it is stuck in 1st gear. No reverse or anything. And it is in 1st gear but the gearshift lever is not in the proper position. Clutch and everything else works fine. It's almost like the shifter is disconnected from the linkage. Any thoughts? Is this a problem you attack from the top of the tunnel or from the bottom?

You can't get to anything from the top.......get the car in the air and take a look......you probably lost a pin, not uncommon.....most likely the pin for the actual shift itself.
