Well life only moves forward... hopefully not too much of the purchase price hinged on the numbers matching aspect of this vehicle. No sense worrying about this mistake any further.
It still has a 454 in it, and all the potential of performance that goes along with a 454.
air goes in... air goes out. Make the power and enjoy the car.
I don't think I paid a premium nor was I shopping specifically for a #s matching car.
I did want a vette engine at least though, unless the replacement was better than stock.
Still waiting for the paperwork that is supposed to accompany the car. Who knows, maybe it's just the block and the heads are rebuilt LS5 or better.
I don't even know how many miles it's got on it. the ODO says 6000, and condition says it's probably only gone round the bend once so 106,000. But I was told it was 'rebuilt' at some point.
Speaking of. If I wanted to start another thread to get an idea of what she might be worth (just ballpark), what sort of info would be pertinent to post there?
73/74 cars will have 049 or 781 oval port heads. These are very good heads. If you pop off a valve cover just get the numbers. Your paperwork may or may not have that info.
Condition of the car weighs heavily into the vehicles value. I suggest you start a “what’s it worth thread” and include lots of pictures, in addition to everything you know about the car.
