There is no reeason to be "looking for" a driveshaft. Just stop by your local driveshaft shop and have one made. Any competent driveshaft shop can make you a nice, heavy duty, high performance shaft from either steel or aluminum - shouldn't be any problem at all - I have them made regularly. If I can get it done in cowtown Denver, you can get it done easily in the metro NY area.
I'd rather buy it new and install it Quicker that way. One night for everything once I have the Half Shafts and Driveshaft in my hands. Remove old, drink some beers, have pizza and replace with new. Not into dropping old parts off, waiting and going back to pick up
Mr Driveshaft in Wall Township NJ (about 45-50 minutes from the Varrazano Bridge) will make you a driveshaft in a day. Their website has all the information needed to spec out and order a new driveshaft. They might even already have the specs for a stock 81 driveshaft. I've used them a number of times for driveshafts, for stock, custom and racing.
