Trying to lengthen the throw on the rod assembly that connects to the outside door handle because the outside
handle will not open the door but the inside works fine. I do not see an E clip on the pin that connects to the lock
assembly and wonder how that comes apart. It is a 1979. Thx John
Click here and go to post #2. I assume you mean removing the barrel with the pin? slide the clip slightly and pop the pin out with a screwdriver, the clip was holding it in place. Then pull the clip back into place because when you reassemble you just push the pin in the clip and it locks. video 3 shows that.
If the handle was working previously there should be no need now to extend the barrel. is this a reassemble?
The outside handles have a tendency to break, allowing it to sag on the outside. There used to be a spring you could slip in to get the handle back to the correct position
