Speed Bleeders
Brakes on my 69 Roadster are not what I they should be. Everything in the braking system is new including me rebuilding all the calipers. I figured I would try Speed Bleeders so I can bleed the brakes myself.
Has anyone used them?

I bought them, installed them and tried to use them, and all they would do is leak. The angles ground into the tip were not the same angles ground into the stock bleeders. I threw them in the trash.

What year C3, not that it should matter, I think they are suppose to fit all the way to 82?

Honestly, I do not remember the brand, however, I have used Russell product before and they are typically good. SO.....maybe it was some other brand?? Although, I typically do not just pick the cheapest, so it might have been Russell. Sorry I can't be more sure.

If that doesn't work, buy a Motive Bleeder. I have one for my 79 and it makes bleeding the brakes easy, and works perfect every time. In fact, the brakes worked better than they ever did from the first time I used it.

Have a Motive bleeder that I use on my Viper. Works great. the problem is I cant get a good seal on the Master Cylinder of the Corvette. I don't think I want to risk trying anymore because I don't feel like getting Brake Fluid all over my paint.

There are a couple that use an air compressor fitting to draw the fluid through the system rather than either gravity or the hand pump style, probably have a better chance of drawing bubbles out that the hand pumps can't. Under $100 most places.

I used the Speed Bleeders that you could loosen and they act like a One Way valve until tightened down again. They started leaking and were pulled off in about a year. I used the standard bleeders now as they have been working okay for a long time.
I have been using a Phoenix Reverse Bleeder with my C3 and other cars since I can remember. It is simple, fast and easy to do when you are set up for it. Pushing the fluid (along with the air) up to the master Cylinder works fine for me. It gives me the best "overall" pedal feeling as it pushes the air out leaving nothing but brake fluid. I replace Brake Fluids every five years so I have the right tools to make the job easier. I can use it on Hydraulic Clutches like the one my Chevrolet Silverado Pick up had. Any hydraulic system would benefit from this device.

They work great unless you don't know how to use them. Put them on do one brake at a time start with farthest one away from master. took about 5 minutes done perfect. Tighten them up still on car. There pretty much dummy proof

Saying speed bleeder is like saying “vice grips”. All different brands and quality out there now. I used Russel on my 66 and they worked great.

That's what I ordered, Russell's. Watched some Vids so I know exactly how they work.
Wish my Motive would seal to my Vette MC but no such luck. Works great with all screw on MC's.
