I know the carpet is the cause of the "musty" smell. I removed it and want to see if anybody knows a good way to get the smell out of the car before I put in the new carpet. I'm doing a complete interior re-do, to include gauges, seats, carpet and console. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. :flag
All I know is the simple stuff. Wipe down inside with rag and a pale of your choice of cleaner (pine sol, simple green, etc) leave open for at least 24hrs.
After the interior is out of the car, try sprinking Baking Soda inside the car and let it set for a couple of days, then vacuum it out. After that wipe the inside surfaces down with your favorite cleaner.
I've referred a few threads back to this one and I think in this case you may want to take a look too. Here's the thread. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=362830
Much of the smell I was getting in my interior was caused by a bad plenum seal that the heater/AC motor draws air from. Since you are already doing an interior resto you probably have most of the pieces out. Check out the thread for more info.
Must of my smell was removed when I pulled the old carpet and insulation. You should think about sealing your floor pans also while you have all that stuff off. I went w/ POR15 and it looked great. Ironic, I have covered it all back up. :-)
