Some say install them together; put something over the radiator fins so as not to smash any of them. Probably better for 2 to do that job. Is the hood removed? good luck with your install.

My experience: '72 454 stock components
I'm in the assemble as a unit (support, radiator, and shroud) outside of the car and drop it in with an engine hoist camp. The huge advantage to this is that all of the foam seals on each side of the radiator can be easily installed and the lower shroud mounting bolts can be secured with free access all around – and the hoist holds all the weight. However the disadvantage is that the hood needs to be removed and it's still a fiddly dance to get it in. If you elect to go with only dropping the radiator in, place the shroud in first and as far toward the engine as possible. Good luck as it's not a fun job no matter how you do it.

I assembled my radiator, shroud and support on my workbench and installed it as a unit. Since I did not have access to a hoist it was a two person job to drop it in with the hood removed. I also put cardboard on the fins to protect the radiator while working it in.

Remove the two bolts on each side of the radiator support.
Loosen but do not remove the bolts on the bottom of the support.
If there is a brace in front of the radiator support remove it.
Tilt the radiator support forward.
You can now remove the shroud and radiator.

All this is absolutely correct. I think you are trying to reinstall at this point, so the advice on leaning the radiator support is key at this point. I've done this a couple times on my 77, by myself, using this technique. I removed the hood to make this much easier. (I had help for that.) BTW - the radiator support bolts are reachable through the wheel wells.
