1980 Rear end clunk!
Hey Everyone,
Working away on this 1980 project and now at the rear end. Its got a good clunk when putting it into gear. What am I into on pulling this apart and any guesses on what it is?

Assuming your idle speed is at spec. You might have too much backlash between the ring and pinion, How many miles on this rear? Trying to readjust backlash on a used ring and pinion is dicey. You might develop a whine if you bring it back to spec. Also check the trans mount. Sometimes they wear/break.
