clutch replacement
The clutch in my 70 is slipping badely when I try to give it any power from a stop. Is it easier to just pull the motor and trans together they trying to pull the trans out from under the car. I hade the motor and trans out about 12 years ago so pulling it out again would not be to bad.

It takes about 50 minutes to drop the (4-speed) tranny out of a C2/C3 with non-removable crossmember. It takes about an hour-and-a-half to pull the engine with the tranny hanging on it. So it takes roughly half the time and effort to just drop the tranny.

I had to replace mine in my 77 just over a year ago. on jackstands in a one car garage. didn't even consider pulling the engine. I put in a RAM replacement clutch. it had very good reviews and a fair price. I figured if the original lasted over 40 years. no need to over kill it. I'm very happy with the ram clutch. No, it's not a fun job laying on your back getting that trans in and out. but a whole lot less work than pulling the engine.
