Thread engagement should be at least the diameter off the stud. If you need a inch or more spacer I would use a billet spacer that bolts to your hub and the wheel bolts to the spacer.
I have torque thrust two wheels 5 inch backset...everything clears except the e brake cable...i think if I could space them out a 1/4 inch all would clear...it looks as it will still keep the tires under the fender...i have 1/2 inch spacers on the front and changed the wheel studs out but the rears are not quite so easy to change...
Hmmm?
Yeah, probably not going to find that style in 1/4 ".
Try these then: This is not the exact one for your car but they will probably have the right ones. Here's a link to the seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2pc-1-4-Whe...EAAOSwLShe5BTI
I have a guy who can build them for me..was just trying to determine if I needed to change the stock length studs..was hoping some one had gone through this and could provide some input...
bigg_un, you say you think 1/4" spacers will work, before spending money on spacers or more expensive adapters, try stacking 1/4" of flat washers in (equal height) stacks on at least 3 opposing studs and see if that will provide the needed clearance. You could also use 3 standard nuts of equal thickness to perform the same test.
Once you determine what thickness you actually need you'll be better prepared to order spacers or adapters. That knowledge will also let you know if you have enough stud length to go with adapters or if you'll need to change them out for longer studs or try adapters.
