I have a new crate engine, but in order to install CVF crank pulley do I need to remove center bolt?
I read online that it’s quite a task to get that puppy out?! Just don’t want to damage anything...
Or just to make center part of CVF pulley bigger so it slides over the center bolt?
It shouldn’t be hard to remove the bolt. The challenge is preventing the engine from turning. I usually use an impact wrench but holding the flywheel works too.
I’m not sure where/what you read about the center bolt, but it is not difficult to remove. An impact wrench will back it right off. So will a socket and a breaker bar, but that might disturb the timing if it is on tdc. Either way, what you read is inaccurate.
